The Capital Group Companies, Inc. (CGC) is the parent company of a number of organisational entities, all of which directly or indirectly provide global investment management services and are 100% owned by CGC. CGC is one of the oldest major financial services firms in the United States. The company traces its roots back to 1931.
CGC is owned by a broad group of approximately 350 senior investment and administrative employees with over 85% of the company owned by active employees. The remainder is owned by retired employees who have to sell their shares back to the company within a few years of retirement. There have been no recent changes to the ownership structure of CGC and none are planned.
Capital International (CISA) and Capital International Limited (CIL), the Swiss and United Kingdom subsidiaries of CGC, were established in 1962 and 1982 respectively to provide active investment management mainly to institutions based in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
